Family Playdate + Homemade Hot Chocolate & Cookies
Want a good visual for the word “fickle”? Michigan weather. We’ve had autumn rain and frost several times; most trees have lost their leaves; today it is a balmy 76 degrees. My kids are thrilled with being able to run around outside without heavy jackets, especially my youngest. He is going through a stage where all he wants on is his pull-ups.
We took advantage of summer in November and had an outdoor playdate this week. Since we were going to our friends’ house, Shay agreeably wore his clothes. He was going to see Abby, after all. Abby, as in the little princess darling that my two youngest boys are smitten with.
Abby has a new Perfect Fit Trike. In pink. No matter that it was pink. All of the younger kids were vying for a turn riding it. Abby’s mom, Christy, and I were quite impressed with it, too. It’s a stroller, push trike and full tricycle, all in one, so it works for kids from nine months to five-years-old.
At first the parent strolls with the trike and does the usual pushing and steering—and the handle allows one-handed control. Then, when the child is a little older, they learn to pedal as the parent steers. When that skill is mastered you remove the waist bar and you have a trike that the child can pedal and steer. After Christy was showing me everything it did, Zane piped up, “It’s cool, Mom. It’s just like a Transformer!”
It really is cool, according to Christy and me. The Perfect Fit Trike has lots of features going for it. There’s an adjustable sun shade for protecting against 99% of harmful UV Rays. The seat adjusts to fit kids of all sizes and it can be moved with a flip of a switch—no tools necessary. The five-point seat harness and protective safety bar is especially appealing for youngest passengers. The footrests fold away and they can also be detached. There’s a beverage holder, a convenience tray and a storage bucket (with a dumping mechanism!) It’s made of durable metal and plastic so it should be easy to wipe down too. That’s coming from a boy-mom and not from the mom of a neat, little pink princess!
The Perfect Fit Trike would be a great baby shower gift or Christmas gift whether you have a pretty little Princess Abby or a boisterous boy. It certainly was the focus of our play date…after Abby, of course.
As the evening wore down, it started to cool off as the sun set and was time for the kids to head inside. Christy and I decided to make some treats to enjoy — that we loved just as much as the kids did! It was great to spend time together visiting while we all enjoyed our goodies.
