Eggs and Heart-Shaped Bacon Breakfast

By  | Last Updated:

Are you big breakfast eaters at your house? A healthy and satisfying breakfast is a super way to start any day but busy weekday mornings don’t always lend themselves to a big meal. Since February 14th is a Saturday this year, for sure my guys will wake up to a special breakfast for Valentine’s Day. What’s on the menu? Heart-shaped bacon, eggs, toast and fruit. Have you ever made heart-shaped bacon? It’s easy. I’ll show you.

We like our eggs (Burnbrae Farms, my favorite!) cooked over-easy. Dip thick slices of buttered Texas toast into those egg yolks—yum! Add crispy, heart-shaped bacon and it’s love, for sure! The heart shaped bacon is much easier to do than it is to describe!

Preheat the oven to 350*. Take a slice of bacon and fold it not quite in half; the top piece needs to be slightly longer than the other. Fold the top piece to the right, making a V shape at the bottom of the bacon. Fold the right hand piece in half. Fold the left hand piece in half, so the ends meet in the middle. Check the pictures and you’ll see how easy it is.

I put my bacon hearts on a rack with a cookie pan under them to catch the grease. Cook the bacon 15-20 minutes, depending on how crisp you like them. Sample a couple while you arrange the plates. Get ready for grins of appreciation and maybe a couple of kisses on the cheek but hold out for payment in chocolate.
