Why is it that grilling elevates even a humble meal into something spectacular? You can add fresh air and charcoal to anything and it seems to taste better! Weve been visiting with my side of the family and for Sams upcoming 6th birthday we had a family cook-out. Sam was so excited! Ball Parks Finest Hot Dogs were invited to the party. They were delicious!
The flavors of grilled hot dogs can be surprisingly diverse. Mustard, ketchup and onions are frequent partners. Chili dogs are iconic. Cheese dogs are another popular version. But for Sams birthday, I wanted to serve the kid-friendly hot dog with a twist in taste. The bacon wrapped Ball Park Parks Finest were a hit and the mango salsa added a unique flavor that everyone raved about. Bet youd like them!
First, I made the mango salsa. Its easy. Dice one avocado, one tomato and one peach, plus add one tablespoon of fresh cilantro.
Then, wrap the wieners in bacon. I grilled them for about five minutes on each side, turning frequently over medium heat, until the hot dogs were nicely browned and the bacon was fully cooked.
Pop the hot dogs in a bun. Top them with the mango salsa and add a dollop of sour cream or tzatziki. Thats a hot dog worth celebrating whether you have a birthday boy or not!
