Baby Shower Gift Ideas: Mom Time Essentials #PlaytexEssentials
When you become a mom your whole world changes. In a good way. I remember being totally flooded with love, wonder, excitement, hope. To finally hold that little person youve been carrying inside and talking to and dreaming about is beyond awesome. The soft skin, soft hair that exquisite baby scent. I could hardly imagine those tiny fingers and toes as man-sized. And to look in Sams eyes. Those are just a few of the grand and good things I remember from my first new mom days. One of my best friends from my hometown just had her second child — and there’s a bit of an age gap between her two children. We were talking about how much you actually forget in the years that follow babyhood. Like how demanding babies are. 🙂
I also foggily remember being T-I-R-D. As in, too tired to even spell the word! Feeding. Diapers. Sleeping. Repeat. New baby means all sorts of new routines that sure stretch you. Its all worth it. Remembering those first days always makes me want to bring her a gift that is as much about her as it is about the baby. Her little guy has colic and it has not been an easy few weeks. Since I was going to visit them, I packed up a cute embroidered purse (I love giving gifts in something useful) with a few of her favorite skincare products, a gift certificate for a pedicure as well as some of my favorite baby products I couldn’t live without.
Great products make a huge difference in taking care of baby. I loved anything that would make diaper detail easier. It certainly was NOT my favorite part of having a baby. How could something so sweet make so much stink?!
The Diaper Genie Elite is a terrific way to deal with all of those dirty diapers and their smell. Theres a carbon filter that absorbs the diaper odor and a built-in antimicrobial inhibits the odor from bacteria on the diaper pail. One of the best features is the foot pedalso you dont even have to touch the pail. Since my friend has a Diaper Genie Elite, I decided that I could go to Target and stock her up on refills so that she would NEVER run out. I did once when Sam was a baby and I swore it would not happen again.
Be sure to take advantage of the Diaper Genie Mommy Time Rewards Program! Earn points to use towards great rewards for yourself every time you buy or register for Diaper Genie products. Be sure to take advantage of it! All you have to do is snap a photo of your store receipt and register with the Mommy Time Rewards. Awesome idea, huh? I KNOW youre going to have LOTS of dirty diaper opportunities to use the Diaper Genie and the refills! You can buy the Diaper Genie Elite products at Target. A trip to Target is another mommy reward in my book!
I also made her some delicious coconut cupcakes with a fresh mango frosting BECAUSE there is nothing worse than spending sleepless nights with a baby who has colic – and not having cupcakes!
Coconut Cupcakes with Mango Frosting
- 2 eggs
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 individual size vanilla yogurt (approx 1/2 a cup)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1.25 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut (I used sweetened)
- Additional coconut to garnish cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir eggs, butter, sugar, yogurt and vanilla until well mixed. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet mixture until combined. DO NOT over stir. Fold in coconut. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 of the way full. Bake for approximately 22 minutes or until cooked through center.
- 1/2 mango pureed
- 1 stick butter
- 3.5 cups powdered sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
Combine ingredients until fluffy. If mixture is too watery, add more powdered sugar a little at a time. You can offset sweetness by adding salt, 1/page/8 tsp at a time. Pipe onto cooled cupcakes using a 1M tip. Sprinkle shredded coconut on top.
