To Infinity and Beyond! A Boy’s Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party

By  | Last Updated:

Calling all space rangers: this boy’s Buzz Lightyear birthday party is out-of-this world!  Created for her son’s 2nd birthday party, Emnie, of Isabel’s Confetti, did a stellar job incorporating both her son’s absolute love of the movie Toy Story and his favorite colors (blue and green) into the party theme ideas and styling.  Get ready to blast off with inspiration for party decorations and favors, cupcakes and treats as you view the beautiful photos from the celebration.

Backed by a sparkling sea of shimmering party tinsel and fringe, the dessert table was surely beyond little guests’ wildest dreams.  Using a variety of white milk glass serving dishes and cake stands, colorful blue, green and purple desserts were displayed and really popped! Desserts included macarons, mini donuts, Jello and cupcakes; everything was designed to coordinate with the party colors and theme. Even the Buzz Lightyear inspired cake was homemade!

Because the celebration day ended up being particularly hot, a make-your-own sundae bar was added.  I can only imagine how excited the guests were about the color-coordinating toppings and sweet mix-ins.

A colorful table was set for dining.  Layered blue and green cups, embellished with sparkly star labels and striped party straws, and paired with green party plates, were eye-catching against a white tablecloth.  Even the napkins received a face-lift with a custom napkin wrap.  It’s these little details that help add the “extra” in “extraordinary” party!

Cute activity stations were set up for entertaining little space rangers.  I love the custom party posters at the stations.  How clever are the games?  “Pin the Eye on the Alien”, “Space Blaster” and “Space Rock Relay” are just a few of the activities. There was also a “Guess How Many Army Men” in the jar game and a “Coloring with Slinky” station.  Offering a variety of activities for children to choose from at this age is such an undertaking, but helps keep the party running smoothly.

One of my favorite details from the party is the unbelievably cute party favor station.  Using an adorable “thank you for coming” poster as the backdrop, Buzz Lightyear party favors were neatly displayed.  I loved the use of the toy alien and “3…2…1…Blast Off” signage to help tie in the theme.  I also adore the creative genius behind the rocket ship bubble gum machine party favors!  So cute, right? It’s amazing how a simple party printable and scrapbook paper can transform an ordinary favor into something totally awesome!
