Preppy Gator 6th Boy Birthday Party
A ‘gator themed boy birthday party was the best idea for a guy who loves aquariums and zoos! Toni, of Creative Designs by Toni, planned a fun, hot weather celebration for her son’s 6th birthday. With a gator cake and cookies, gator decorations, a paint-the-gator activity and even some water fun in the backyard, the guys had a blast besting the beasts. Toni used her sons favorite color of bluewith white and a touch of green and orangeto create party ambiance. A bright blue table covering, blue-and-white stripes and paper medallions called attention to the dessert table. The contrast of the blue made the bright green gator cake and treats really pop! The Purple Pugs blue and white birthday banner perfectly fit the theme and made sure everyone knew who was being celebrated.
I love the gators all around the house that added to the fun! On the door, Toni hung a chalkboard welcome sign from Pick Your Plum, with an alligator silhouette on it. A big, inflatable alligator smiled at guests from just beside the sidewalk and another one waited inside the bounce house. Junior gators crouched on tables and waited to be discovered on decorations.
Toni used signs to warn Beware of Gators or told guests that they were at Gator Falls. Toni took the party decorations a step further by having Lisa from Cottontail Creations make a set of fabulous blue and white pillows with little gators on them. She scattered the pillows around the living room, which was adjacent to the party area. This quick and easy way to decorate the living room also gave her son a lasting memento of his party.
For a perfect hands-on party activity that also served as a take-home favor, Toni found wooden alligators for the boys to paint from Paint Me Zoo. Each alligator came with a brush and paints, making it easy to set out all of the supplies.
Six-year-old boys are full of energy, so most of the activities happened outside. Party guests could play on the backyard playground and trampoline, but the water slide and a bounce house burned most of their energy. Toni thoughtfully set out a bucket with sunscreen and bug spray inside a striped Gator Shack with extra towels and snacks for the boys.
A hot day calls for plenty to drink and the beverage station gave the guys another opportunity to keep their fingers from the gator!
The snacks for the party included goldfish crackers, packs of pretzels and chips, a veggie tray, fruit tray, a meat and cheese tray plus turkey and cheese croissants. Each guest also had an alligator cookie from Kimberleys and Lorens Sweet Treats, wrapped in a blue-and-white striped bag. Toni set these out in small blue and green buckets, which shed embellished with alligator silhouettes. As an added surprise, the guests were happy to get to take the buckets home.
As guests left, a gator silhouette said a sly good-bye: See Ya Later.
