Neighborhood Back-To-School Breakfast Party
Do you need another reason to celebrate — besides a boy birthday party, I mean? Leigh Anne Wilkes, from Your Home Based Mom, hosted a darling neighborhood Back-to-School Breakfast. It looks like a great tradition! Her theme ideas for vintage style decorations and economical party supplies just might have you scurrying to put together your own waffle buffet!

In cheery shades of red and yellow, Leigh Anne’s table is such a bright spot to enjoy the start of a day and a new school season. The chalkboard focal point reminds “You learn something new everyday – if you pay attention”. It would be easy to pay attention to this breakfast spread! Layered table linens, a pennant banner and fresh flowers look inviting.
Pretty serving vessels make a special occasion even more appealing. Leigh Anne used a fancifully shaped chalkboard and a variety of pedestals as well. She thoughtfully made pennants to represent each school her guests attended and arranged them in a vase, setting them on a stack of books.
Leigh Anne made a quick run to a local dollar store for themed decorations. She artfully used pencils, crayons and erasers for an A+ arrangement! The Back-to-School red binder, stacked composition notebooks and school pennants serve as fun reminders for the celebration. I like her apple-for-the-teacher references too.
Menu choices included blueberry muffins, bacon, quiche and a waffle bar with all the toppings a kid could wish for: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter, Nutella, sprinkles, cinnamon and maple syrups, plus whip cream!
Juice and sparkling cider were served in vintage style, glass bottles with striped straws.
Leigh Anne must be the consummate neighbor; even though all of her own were away at college, she ”borrowed” neighborhood kids to help celebrate their first day back-to-school with this terrific waffle bar! Leigh Anne commented that especially since she and her husband have become empty nesters, hosting seasonal get-togethers has filled a void — and now neighbors feel like family. Sounds like a win-win to me!
