A Teddy Bear Picnic Joint Boy & Girl Birthday Party
Teddy bears and a playful picnic atmosphere combine in such a delightful way for this teddy bear picnic joint boy and girl birthday party styled by Catherine, of Smart Party Planning. Planned as a joint 2nd birthday party for kids from a mothers group, it was a perfect theme for including boys and girls. Imagine the cuteness of six small children sprawled out on a picnic rug, snuggling their cute teddy bears brought with them from home! Almost as cute are the red, white and yellow decorations, treats and thoughtful party favors.

When I think of a picnic style party, the typical red and white checked pattern comes to mind. Staying true to this classic style, Catherine went with the red/white colors, but chose a fun polka-dotted pattern instead to mix things up a bit. A splash of yellow coordinates with fun bee party favors.
When planning a teddy bear picnic, naturally décor choices include teddy bears and picnic baskets. Catherine created a great backdrop focal point by anchoring helium filled balloons on bear-topped picnic baskets. A darling printable happy birthday banner and matching red tissue paper poms were strung side-to-side. The red table cover really makes the white serving dishes pop.
Toddler taste buds were definitely considered, and the menu was kept simple just for them. A picnic lunch of savory foods consisted of vegemite sandwiches, pizza slices and quiche. Teddy bears had the starring role on several desserts. There were sweetheart teddy cookies and white chocolate teddy bears. A darling teddy bear cake was dolled up with red ribbon. My favorite dessert has to be the handmade teddy bear carsI love the creativity! Fresh fruit was served in scalloped, polka-dotted containers. Red fabric tied with twine colorfully topped Jello jars and kept wooden spoons handy. Jam tarts were just the right size for small hands. All of these items combined to create one impressive food table!
Little ones are often thirsty, and beverages were not forgotten at this sweet picnic. Each child had a customized water bottle with a cute polka-dot and teddy bear beverage wrap. The wraps match the other printable food labels on the food tablea fun touch that tied the colors and theme together. Catherine also had a bottle of milk ready for each child.
Since this party was a joint celebration, there was a candle for each child to blow outa stroke of mom genius! Prior to the party, each child pulled a name out of a hat so everyone bought and received a gift.
Toddlers love simple toys and gain pleasure from toys they can work themselves. Each child received a bee pinwheel which savvy shopping mom, Catherine, found for only $1 each. A darling polka-dotted favor tag added party cheer. I love it when favors function as both décor on the food table and as a fun take-home.
Entertaining young ones and their stuffed friends is no easy task, but its obvious toddlers and their teddies had a fun time at this adorable teddy bear picnic party!
