A Rad Race Car Themed 4th Birthday Party

By  | Last Updated:

When your boy is fixated on 3 things, one of them being race cars, a race car themed 4th birthday is the perfect idea for celebrating!  Not only did professional party planner Monique Grafton, of Bash Party Styling, execute the perfect theme with stylish props and decorations, but she found a way to incorporate the other two things the guest of honor loves too—Oreos and M&Ms!  Zoom in on the photos by Ashley Crenshaw to see all of the high impact details in this rad race car dessert table for a 4th birthday party!

Some of the most inspired dessert tables incorporate props and decorations from the most unlikely places.  I love that the tabletop centerpiece for this race car party was a tire that Monique found abandoned on the side of the road!  Because she wasn’t afraid to put a little elbow grease into cleaning it up, she had a very inexpensive but highly effective prop for her table.  Her brilliant use of black gloss spray paint made it look brand new.

In addition to the tire, several other creative details combined for an impressive display.  Most of the décor, like the name bunting on the front of the table, was DIY. That means it is affordable and fairly easy to recreate using simple craft supplies from home or thrift store finds…and it looks awesome.  The backdrop sign made a super, prominent visual reminder of the guest of honor’s celebratory new age.  The checkered racing flags were a great theme specific addition.

I really like the thrift store race car trophy Monique scavenged and spray painted to match the table.  It’s amazing what a coat or two of spray paint can do to transform old finds into something tabletop worthy!  Doesn’t it look cool rising out of the tire on the dessert platform?  Right next to that, the red cake pops with striped paper straw sticks really pop!

The trophy cups neatly positioned on top of each Oreo display make perfect accent pieces and really help to tie the race car theme together.

Another dessert favorite, cupcakes (Yay for Cakes), sport black and white striped cupcake wrappers, topped with race car toys and flags.  What a clever way to dress up a cupcake!  I bet guests loved eating their cupcakes and having a car to play with afterwards.

Because popcorn is another great dessert table snack, striped boxes were filled to the brim and embellished with custom race car inspired printable name tags.  Glass vessels housed M&Ms to complete the dessert table offerings.

Well-chosen linens help the dessert offerings shine.  I love the “flame inspired” table cover that bring images to mind of speeding cars and burning rubber!  The black and white checkered runner was another great choice, reinforcing the theme.

Cool race car glasses, fake mustaches and laminated driver’s licenses (not pictured) were the clever favors guests received.  What a fun way to send guests off on the wide, open road!

I’d like to cruise over to this party, wouldn’t you?  Great job, Monique!
