A Nautical Inspired Birthday Party (Grown up Boy)

By  | Last Updated:

Styled with masculine details and a color palette of navy and tans, this nautical inspired birthday party for a grown-up guy is sure to float his boat! Although this was a birthday party, the ideas are classic and could also be inspiration for a Father’s Day celebration or a graduation party. A Stylish Affair by Jessie styled and photographed this soiree and shared that the vision for this celebration was “clean cut and masculine”.  No girly details allowed!

The dessert table was kept simple and clean with an oversized wooden monogram, from Custom Cut Monograms, used as the focal point. Great idea! Lengths of ribbon hung as a decorative detail. Although you might not think of ribbon as being masculine, the chosen colors, patterns and lack of bows worked perfectly. For dessert, butter cupcakes with chocolate and vanilla buttercream frosting were displayed on cake stands inside rustic wooden crates.  Cranberry and oat bars, plus black and white cookies, were beautifully presented on trays for easy nibbling. I love the hints of classic décor that added to the overall vibe of the event without adding too much clutter or femininity.  Simple white hydrangeas, lanterns and beverage jars were perfect accessories.  Drinks served up in rustic mason jars were another great masculine choice.

We all know the saying about food being the way to a man’s heart and this gorgeous smorgasbord would have won him over! Served buffet style, an assortment of lovely salads, chips, chicken nuggets and macaroni were offered to hungry guests. Twine wrapped wooden utensils, displayed in a basket, were a handsome option.

Dining tables were dressed up with ribbon accents.  Simple floral arrangements and vintage books functioned as centerpieces. Printed menus rested at each place setting.

You are never too old for some awesome entertainment at a birthday party; a photo booth with fun props and disposable cameras were a hit!  Guests always love posing for pictures. Another couple of fun party games for the celebration included a ring toss and custom printed mad libs.

Clean cut and masculine is a good guy description and it works for this terrific guy party, too!
