A whole lot of heart was invested in the planning of this celebration as it honored two very special people in Tonya’s family reaching two very different milestones.  The first guest of honor was her oldest son, who answered the ultimate “Call of Duty” by enlisting in the US Navy and was preparing to leave for Basic Training.  The second honoree was Tonya’s nephew who was in town visiting and happened to be celebrating his birthday.  Both young men are big Call of Duty fans and Tonya couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate two special family members.

If you are familiar with Tonya’s incredible trend-setting party styling, you may be surprised to learn this party didn’t include one of her jaw-dropping dessert tables or food spreads.  Tonya shared that her family opted to spend stress-free time together ahead of the party eating out and enjoying one another’s company.  You better believe once family arrived at the party, they were ready to get down to business with the epic entertainment Tonya had arranged.

Tonya was still full of surprises that wowed her guests: she created the ultimate Call of Duty inspired party experience!  She wanted to provide an environment for her family that allowed them to play the video game together, but also participate in other outdoor activities inspired by the theme.  She called local experts in mobile entertainment to fit her needs.  Games 2 U brought their state-of-the-art video game truck to surprise guests.  If you’re not familiar with a gamer truck, this one had a video game theater inside which accommodated 12 guests who could all play simultaneously—pretty cool!  Most game trucks come equipped with all of the latest and greatest video games like Minecraft, Injustice and of course, Call of Duty.  How fun to play with so many of your friends/family members at the same time, right?

Following game playing in the truck, party guests were invited to enter the Call of Duty “gear up” bunker.  Tonya had set up a table full of military dress-up items for each guest: camouflage shirts, shorts, hats, sunglasses, dog tags and even a backpack for her nephew from Birthday Express.  Tonya decked out the bunker in Call of Duty posters she picked up for free at a local Game Stop.  They doubled as décor and a take home favor for her nephew. Score! I love how she displayed extra military inspired props and gear to establish a military feel to the event space.  How fun for everyone to get in character by gearing up!  The birthday boy’s shirt and dog tags came from JM Cremps The Boys’ Adventure Store.

After gearing up, guests were treated to a full laser tag course set up by Games 2 U.  Bunkers and digital laser tags guns made this a blast for everyone!  To make the laser tag playing even more exciting, Tonya ordered special team patches in two different colors from Magplates.com.  Using Velcro, the patches were attached to shirts and hats for easier team identification. Love it!

As the photos show, Tonya and her family had a blast creating new memories and celebrating two wonderful young men.

We wish your son well on his new adventures!
