A Bright and Colorful Boys’ Lego Birthday Party
This bright and colorful boys LEGO birthday party for LEGO-loving 7-year-old twins was put together with a lot of love. Building a great party for one child can pose a challenge, but coming up with a great theme idea for twins can be even tougher. Thankfully, creative mom and party stylist Val Gimre, of Charming Touch Parties, is a pro at putting together party blueprints! The photos by Jennifer Kaye Photography take you through all the awesome plans, from two LEGO inspired cakes on an awesome dessert table to colorful party decorations and creative activities.

Turning 7 is a big deal ask any 6-year-old! In Vals quest to make her boys LEGO celebration original and modern, she chose to take a colorful approach. She enlisted the creative assistance of graphic designer, The Paper Plume, to create simple printables with a modern flair. Gray and orange were added to the traditional LEGO color palette for a unique look. Val incorporated modern fabrics and kept the building concept prevalent with angular lines and awesome graphic designed details.
Guests were welcomed to the party by a chalkboard sign with colorful balloon bouquets. Were in heaven, our boys are 7 was the sweet thought of the day.
Building a great dessert table was high on the party priority list. Val accomplished this by blending modern fabric with building block details. One of my favorite dessert backdrop details is the LEGO bricks made by layering square and round paper plates. LEGO men, tissue poms and jars full of everyones favorite building bricks added to the display. A vibrant birthday banner incorporated a LEGO inspired font to reinforce the theme.
Val is a master at making paper rosettes. Youll notice them throughout the party styling. I love them on the front of the table as a bunting to spell out the new birthday age.
Two birthday guests of honor meant that two awesome modern LEGO block cakes by Bake It! were on display. Chocolate covered Oreos, by Love and Sugar Kisses, with the coolest fondant LEGO detailing, were also available. The incredibly talented NatSweets whipped up fabulous LEGO cookies which made a perfect addition to the table.
Did you notice those Rice Krispy treats? I love how Val dressed them up using colorful paper straws and custom party flags! Val also mixed in fun candy like gumballs and chocolate Sixletswhat a yummy smorgasbord of treats!
Guests dined at a table marked with custom flair. Colorful place settings included water bottles wrapped in personalized labels and utensil wraps with printable party logos. Bubbles, visors and party horns were prepped for every guest. Hanging tissue poms made quite a festive environment!
One of the personalized touches I especially appreciate is the awesome memory wall Val created to celebrate the boys 7th year. Each boys initial was created out of LEGO pieces, surrounded by photos from the year. A decorative #7 included pictures of the boys together.
Since this was a summer season party, Vals menu was BBQ inspired. Her husband grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and Val served a variety of fresh summer salads and mouthwatering side dishes, each beautifully displayed. I love how Valerie filled color coordinating pots with LEGO pieces and planted rosette style centerpieces.
To keep guests hydrated, there was iced tea, lemonade and even an adults-only margarita bar. The beverage dispensers were cleverly labeled, Have you built up your thirst? I love seeing so many fun details!
Val planned a great variety of activities. There was a “Create Your Own Masterpiece” activity in which each guest was given a time limit and a huge bucket of LEGOs to build their own masterpiece. Guests were allowed to pair up with a friend and then they shared their masterpieces at the end of the set time. Next, kids were asked to take a basic LEGO coloring page and color it according to their own preferences at a Build your Own Creativity station. Everyones creations were displayed around the party space. What a fun way to celebrate creativity! There was also an area to guess how many LEGOs were in a jarbest guess won the jar of LEGOs! I am sure the final activitya LEGO piñata made by Piñata Queenwas a crowd pleaser. Piñata loot bags were ready to be filled with the spoils!
What a bright, colorful and fun way to celebrate two special boys! I bet they wont soon forget their shared birthday celebrationa perfect LEGO birthday party built just for them!
