A Boy’s Barnyard 2nd Birthday Party

By  | Last Updated:

With an oink and a moo and a cock-a-doodle-doo, these boy’s barnyard 2nd birthday party ideas may just bring a big smile to your face that you won’t soon want to wipe away. Creative mom, Rachel, planned this barnyard themed bash for her two-year-old son Isaac. She was inspired by his love of farm animals–and making their noises–and tractors!  The decorations, sweet cake and refreshments are delightful!

Guests were invited for some barnyard fun for Farmer Isaac’s 2nd birthday party. I love how Rachel incorporated the guest of honor’s picture on the invitation.  How could anyone stand to miss celebrating such a darling little boy?  My favorite invitation detail was the request for guests to RSVP “yay” or “neigh” for barnyard fun. So clever!

Of course the little farmer of the hour had a customized outfit for his big hay day.  How cute is that barnyard themed shirt, personalized with his name and age?  And, a cow print bib/bandana? Yeehaw!

Rachel styled a darling farm table for feeding time.  A bright lime green table cover and cow print runner provided a fun canvas for adding colorful place settings.  Red and lime green plates were layered and topped off with a festive cow print napkin.  Milk bottles filled with water had cute cow print paper straws.  Barnyard themed toys made perfect child-friendly centerpieces.

A creative refreshment table was full of barnyard inspired snacks with clever names printed on adorable printable food labels.  Some of the menu highlights, each displayed in cute tin cans with colorful labels or neatly on plates and platters, included: Barnyard Jell-O (red and green), Cow Pops (marshmallows with black spots), Popcorn (chicken feed), Chocolate Crackles (cow patties), and Honey Crackles (hay bales).

My favorite treat was the super cute cupcakes topped with chocolate “mud” frosting and fondant pigs.  I bet kids went hog wild for those!  The birthday boy’s favorite was the darling two tiered cake topped with an edible tractor and adorable farm animals.

A festive gingham and cow print birthday banner was hung on the mirror above the table to bring in more party flair and paired well with cow print balloons on each side.

Activities for this two-year-old’s party were kept appropriately simple.  Rachel took advantage of a beautiful, sunny spring day and let the little farm hands run free outside, playing in their son’s awesome outdoor play area.
Boys Barnyard Themed Birthday Party Favor Ideas
After a fun day of play and lovely refreshments, each guest took home an assortment of kid-friendly favors:  farm animals, glow sticks, bouncy balls and a lollipop.  Notice the favor bags, each embellished with a tractor. Looks like a perfect mix of toys and treats to me!
