Thoughtful Gift Ideas for New Parents

Thoughtful new-parent gift ideas.

The best gift you can give a new parent? Sleep! Since you can’t gift wrap that one, I have some next-best ideas, including a stash of needful baby diapers and a delicious, not-too-sweet treat to celebrate new baby. Frozen dipped bananas make everything better. Thanks to Pampers and Luvs at Sam’s Club for sponsoring this post!

Gift Ideas for New Parents

Our friends just had a baby. It’s been eight years since I cuddled my own newborn but nuzzling their little guy’s fuzzy head and inhaling that new-baby scent took me right back.

Don’t you wish you could re-visit those first months of your own experience and take in everything without sleep-deprived brain fog? I’d love it!

Baby Gifts

I clearly remember feeling like my head was turning to mush. It didn’t help that I sometimes went days without talking to another adult (besides Mike, but he was tired, too).

That’s motivated me to reach out to new mom friends with kind and practical gifts and acts of service. They mean so much when your hands are full and your energy is depleted.

This kind of support makes such a difference:

  • Take a homecooked meal, plus extra portions for their freezer.
  • Offer to do a couple loads of laundry—or at least fold those over-flowing baskets of clean clothes waiting to be taken care of.
  • Tidy the main living spaces, run the vacuum, show the dust rag around.
  • If they don’t have a service, mow the yard (hand that one off to your husband!) and weed their flower beds.
  • Pick up groceries.
  • Take an older sibling for an outing. Knowing an older child is being cared for and having fun is huge.
  • While you’re out, go to Sam’s Club and pick up a large box of diapers. They will be appreciated—and used!

Pampers at Sam's Club

Now through August 22 would be a good time to take advantage of the great prices on diapers at Sam’s Club because you get an instant $10 savings when you buy two Pampers or Luvs products, plus free shipping or Club Pickup (where available) or save $18 when you buy three. No coupon necessary because savings are automatically calculated when you check out at the register in-club with the Scan & Go app or on samsclub.com.

Pampers Sale at Sam's Club

That kind of deal makes it even easier to be kind and generous-hearted! Sam’s Club Scan & Go app lets you—and busy new moms—skip the checkout line.

Download the app to your phone (Apple or Android), scan items as you shop, then check out with the app, too. The receipt shows up on your phone.

Another idea that helps busy families with sleeping babies in tow is their Club Pickup. You order Pampers or Luvs products on samsclub.com, select Club Pickup, and everything is waiting when you get there.

Or you can have the goods delivered straight to your door. Go to the Pampers product page or the Luvs product page to order your diapers. I used both Pampers and Luvs, back in the day. They’re products you can feel good about using and gifting.

Pampers is the #1 choice of hospitals. Pampers’ Swaddlers are super-soft and offer up to 12 hours of overnight protection and I like their perfume-free, hypoallergenic Sensitive Baby Wipes, too.

Modern Diaper Cake

Make those diapers into a cute diaper cake for a fun presentation. When new mom is up for company, deliver the diapers along with indulgent, easy-to-make, but not-too-sweet frozen dipped bananas.

Then take time to visit and listen. Bet you won’t have to convince her to slip into the other room for a power nap while you keep an eye on baby. Frozen dipped bananas and a little more sleep make everything better!
