Halloween Costume Ideas for Boys
Sam lives for dressing up. He’s got the most amazing imagination, loves to be the center of attention, and he lives for entertaining. He was made for Halloween!
Looking back at Halloween celebrations usually comes with the footnote, “That was the year that I wore my___costume.” Fill in the blank. Sam will look back at this year as “That awesome time I was SpongeBob SquarePants.”
I still remember the year I was a “girl pirate”. I was about Sam’s age. Our house at the time was a cape cod style. It had an attic attached to my bedroom that was practically empty. (We called it the offaset, which I don’t even think is a word.) My best friend and I used to play in the offaset more than we played in my room.
We thought the unpainted wood planks on the wall and floor made the perfect rustic backdrop for slightly creepy Halloween decorations. So that is where we decided to host a Halloween party for our dolls and stuffies.
We played music. We ate treats. Lots of treats (it was the 80s). We made up games. I basked in the thrill of my cool costume and our pretend Halloween party.
That first hostess experience left me excited for more. Over the years I have learned:
- Themed decorations really make a difference; they can set the tone for an event.
- A bountiful table with a varied menu excites guests. Presentation matters.
- Plan more activities than you think you’ll need. Move on to the next thing if attention/energy seems to be waning.
- Close out the celebration by sending guests off with a great take-home favor.
I also learned cool costumes make you feel great. And Sam knows that already. He is obsessed with his SpongeBob SquarePants costume. So we have been working on getting the details just right.
In addition to the SpongeBob top and brown shorts we added knee socks and a pair of black Crocs classic clogs. We have several neighborhood parties to attend as well as a long trick-or-treating route, so it calls for comfort. The Crocs look great with his pineapple house and costume, plus he loves wearing them—easy on and off rates high with SpongeBob!
To make your Halloween season even sweeter this year, catch our #Croctober Twitter Party on October 25th, from 8-9:00 p.m@SpaceShipsLB. You might learn a few more Halloween tips and you’ll have a chance to win prizes!
