Boy Bash on a Budget Challenge

[Boy Bash] Bug Birthday Party Tablescape!

By  | Last Updated:

Every week till early September we’re going to be featuring a budget themed dessert table or tablescape from the talented women who have graciously volunteered to take on our Boy Bash on a Budget Challenge. And we’re even going to throw our own work into the ring from time to time and follow the same budget confines. Every participant gets the Spaceships and Laser Beams Collection of their choice + $50 for a dessert table or $20 for a tablescape. They can also use anything they are able beg or borrow, make themselves or already own.

We have a special Boy Bash on a Budget Challenge feature this week, as I am actually showcasing the work of two very talented women. Today, we’re so happy to say it’s Dolce of Fun Favors. She created this bug themed boy’s birthday tablescape using our Bug Bash Collection (which was designed by Andrew). Check out her ideas in the photos below and also her great tips for how you can keep your own party on budget (in italics) at the end of the post.

From Dulce:

Guest: 6 children
*Used colored paper plates and napkins to add a pop of color without breaking the budget for only $1.00 ea. pack
*Wooden spoons and forks that I had already at home to give it a more outdoorsy feel and look
*Used props that I already had at home such as  a wooden tray to place the favors bags in and a wooden mini tray that I used upside down and worked as a cupcake stand.
*Favor bags: yummy popcorn with some BUG gummy candy drizzled with milk chocolate, easy, inexpensive and delicious!
*For the cupcakes: they were homemade and I just added BUG gummies with a wooden spoon as a cupcake topper using the circles from the printable collection..they looked amazing!
*Extra snack: homemade sugar cookies, I used the colors from the collection, added some bugs to the decor and personalized with an initial and name on some of them!

Stephanie is in love with a boy named Sam. He has taught her that it's okay to jump first and look later, to wear a dirty shirt to the park and to decide that today is a good day to take a nap in your rubber boots. She hangs out here blogging at Spaceships and Laser Beams and at our printable party shop on Etsy.
